This article provides a description of the Managed Services feature page of the Cradlepoint router.


Configuration

Configuration Difficulty: Easy
Series 1 and 2:
  • Step 1: Located in the Administration Pages under TOOLS > MANAGED SERVICES. (for instructions on accessing the Administrative Pages click here)

  • Step 2: Here you enable or disable Managed Services. Supported Cradlepoint routers with firmware released after 01/01/2010 will have Managed Services enabled by default; however, the router cannot be administered until it has joined an account in WiPipe Central. URL can be used to add your router to your WiPipe Central account and can be obtained once you log in to your WiPipe Central account.

  • Step 3: Ethernet only mode is if you only want management to happen on a Ethernet WAN based connection vs. USB. Session retry it the number of seconds between contacting the WiPipe central server checking to see if it has been added to an account (Default being 360 seconds).

Series 3 (up to Firmware 4.2.0):
  • Step 1: Located in the Administrative Page under the System Settings tab, under Managed Services. (for instructions on accessing the Administrative Pages click here)

  • Step 2: Here you enable or disable Managed Services. The router cannot be administered until it has joined an account in WiPipe Central. Ethernet only mode is if you only want management to happen on a Ethernet WAN based connection vs. USB.

  • Step 3: Registration URL can be used to add your router to your WiPipe Central account and can be obtained once you log into your WiPipe Central account.

Series 3 (Firmware 4.2.1 to 5.4.2):
  • Step 1: Located in the Administrative Page under the System Settings tab, under Enterprise Cloud Manager. (for instructions on accessing the Administrative Pages click here)

  • Step 2: Click on the section labeled Legacy WiPipe Central Settings, Here you enable or disable Managed service for WiPipe Central. For Managed Services regarding Enterprise Cloud Manager please refer to the article here for further instructions.

Series 3 (Firmware 6.0 and up):
  • Step 1: Located in the Administrative Page under the System tab. (for instructions on accessing the Administrative Pages click here)
  • Step 2: Click on the System tab and then select Enterprise Cloud Manager.
    • The Status section will show the state of the connection (connected or disconnected) as well as the Router Identifier, Account name, and assigned group.
    • The Recent activity section will show the ECM stream activity.
    • Enterprise Cloud Manager Settings is where you can Enable or Disable the ECM service and change the ECM host and port settings.
      • In this section the Session Retry Timer can be configured for how often the router will re-attempt to connect to the ECM servers.
      • The Unmanaged Checkin Timer allows configuration of a time (in seconds) that the router will check into ECM to see if it's managed or not. This only occurs if the device thinks it's unmanaged.
      • The Maximum Alerts Buffer is the max number of alerts to buffer when offline.
