Migration Process for devices upgrading to NCOS 6.5.0 or newer while utilizing Custom CP Secure Web Filter Categories
Products Supported: Perimeter
There was an issue with the User Interface in NCOS versions prior to 6.5.0 for CP Secure Web Filter’s Custom Categories that in certain circumstances would allow entry of more than the supported limit of 5 items per category. If you have Custom Categories that have more than 5 items, you will need to use the following steps to successfully upgrade to NCOS 6.5.0. Upgrading without following this process can have unpredictable results
Steps for Migration
Step 1) Back up your current configuration file!
Step 2) Save the information for your Custom Categories so that it may be re-entered later after upgrading to NCOS 6.5.0. It is suggested to utilize a tool that can produce “CSV” (comma separated value) files as it will simplify re-loading your custom categories later.
Step 3) Click the check box at the top of the Custom Categories list and ensure all entries are marked. The click the “Remove" button to remove the entries.
Step 4) Open any Web Filter Policies by selecting the policy item and then clicking the “Edit" button.
Step 5) Ensure that the custom categories are missing from the policies list and then click the “Save” button.
Step 6) Click the “Save” button at the bottom to save the overall configuration.
You may now proceed with the NCOS upgrade process. Once that upgrade is complete, you may add the Custom Categories back to your configuration.
In NCOS 6.5.0, the entry limit for Custom Categories has been altered.
There is a hard limit of 15 Categories with 64 items per category.
If you have more than 64 items for a category, you will need to split them amongst multiple category lists.
