Registration Error: NONE when attempting to add router to NetCloud Manager

« Go Back

Information

TitleRegistration Error: NONE when attempting to add router to NetCloud Manager
Symptoms
  • Unable to register the router to NetCloud
  • When attempting to register a router to NetCloud, getting the message "Registration Error: NONE"
  • Able to ping stream.cradlepointecm.com from the router, but a traceroute times out from the very first hop
  • Same registration error after re-registering, after a reboot, and after factory reset
  • Logs show messages like:
08:22:39 AM WARN netcloud Connection Dropped (timed out)
08:53:24 AM INFO netcloud Registration Error: None
Environment
  • NetCloud Manager entitled
  • Registering router from local UI
  • Devices and Groups tabs are visible in NCM
  • Other routers are successfully being registered with the same credentials at other locations
  • Other routers are successfully being registered using the same WAN ISP at other locations
  • Other routers from the same location are also failing to register
Resolution
  1. Confirm the edge router/firewall permits all TCP and UDP traffic destined to the NetCloud servers
Cause
The NCM registration request uses UDP, so if any device upstream of the Cradlepoint is blocking UDP traffic, the registration will fail even though other communication with NetCloud might continue flowing through correctly.
